As late September rolls around I start gearing up for engagement pictures in the fall; many couples wait until then because they want to capture the vibrant fall colors on the trees for their engagement pictures. Laura and Frankie were no different, as their engagement session took me to Swarthmore College in suburban Philadelphia. I have been to Swarthmore College quite a few times for weddings but this was the first time I was at Swarthmore College is an engagement photographer. All I can say is wow what a place, between the buildings, the pathways, and the leaves, this tree-lined campus is actually one of my most favorite places to do fall engagement sessions; is absolutely spectacular. As what seems to be the norm, this was the first time I met Lauren and Frankie, and to be honest they were so cool and laid-back it was so much fun photographing this couple. Especially Frankie who seem to be extremely natural in front of the camera and knew exactly what he wanted. After an initial consultation of what to wear, their outfits matched perfectly which only added to the impact of their pictures - always draw the viewer’s eye to the subjects and not to what they wear; this makes the images so much better. The lighting was absolutely perfect on this fall day so all I had to do was position them in the right light, focus and shoot the rest was really easy. This pose is what I do for every single couple, it look at the camera and smile, for both their parents; a timeless classic that everyone expects.
